natives.africa is a small, slow newsroom. Our mission is to commission, edit and publish stories about the continent that are written by the people who live it — and to fund that work through a shop that puts every cent of profit back into reporting.

Every story is reported by a journalist from — or living in — the country it covers. No parachute journalism.

Slow over loud
We publish a handful of stories a month. Each one is fact-checked twice, photographed properly, and edited without rush.

Fair pay, in your currency
Contributors are paid above market rate, in their own currency, on time. The newsroom only works if the newsroom is paid.

The shop funds the stories
Every product is tied to a story. 100% of profit goes back into commissioning the next one — never into outside pockets.
